Born in Warsaw in 1972, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. Spent 12 years in the advertising industry. He also worked in the movie business doing animation and special effects work for feature films.

In 2000, he directed “Mantis,” his first animated short. The movie received numerous awards at multiple international festivals, including BAF (BradfordAnimationFestival) and the Imagina New Independent Talent Award.

Grzegorz has collaborated with Industrial Light & Magic, CafeFX, Syndicate (USA), and Platige Image (Poland). As a director, special effects artist, animation director, and art director, Jonkajtys has worked on multiple movie projects, including “Sin City,” “Hellboy,” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “The Mist,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Rango,” and the “Transformers” saga.

His second animated movie, called “The Ark” garnered widespread praise, was nominated for a Golden Palm at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, and received best Best of Show award at the 2007 SIGGRAPH festival.

In 2010, Jonkajtys finished “The 3rd Letter” – a live-action short – featuring Rodrigo Lopresti, for which he received the Best Director award at the 2010 HollyShorts festival and the Best of Show Jury Award at the Nevada City Film Festival. The film also took first place in the Short Film category at the 2011 New Wave Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Currently, Grzegorz is working on his feature-length debut.
